Land at the wrong field and you’ve added 45 minutes of I-295 traffic to a trip that should have ended 10 minutes from your hotel. Land at the right one and your chauffeur is loading golf bags before the engines spool down.

One quirk worth flagging up front: St. Augustine’s airport uses UST with the airlines (IATA) but SGJ with the FAA, so your flight department may file it as KSGJ. Same field either way.
Jacksonville International (KJAX): Sheltair and Signature
KJAX is the region’s commercial hub, but it also has a busy general aviation side with two FBOs: Sheltair and Signature. Both sit minutes from I-95 and I-295 on the north end of town.
The case for landing at KJAX is connectivity. If part of your group is flying commercial and part is arriving by charter, everyone lands at the same airport, and we can coordinate a pickup at the FBO alongside a meet-and-greet arrival inside the main terminal. It’s also the sensible choice if you’re continuing north to Amelia Island on a jet too large for Fernandina’s runway, or heading up to the Georgia Golden Isles — Sea Island, St. Simons, and Jekyll Island are all a comfortable drive from KJAX.
The tradeoff: KJAX sits well north of downtown, the beaches, and Ponte Vedra. Figure 30 to 45 minutes to most southside destinations depending on traffic.

Jacksonville Executive at Craig (KCRG / JAXEX): Sky Harbor and Jax Executive Jet Center
If your destination is the beaches, TPC Sawgrass, the Ponte Vedra resorts, downtown, or Mayo Clinic, KCRG is almost always the right answer. It’s the closest jet-capable field to all of them, and it exists specifically to serve business aviation, so there’s no airline traffic to sequence behind.
Two FBOs operate here under lease from the Jacksonville Aviation Authority: Sky Harbor Aviation and Jax Executive Jet Center. Both handle everything from turboprops to midsize jets. The runway length (4,004 ft on the longer of the two) is the main constraint — heavier iron goes to KJAX or Cecil.
KCRG deserves special mention for medical travel. Mayo Clinic’s Jacksonville campus is about 15 minutes away, and Executive Health patients flying in privately land here more than anywhere else. Cecil Airport & Spaceport (VQQ): Million Air Jacksonville–Cecil
Cecil is the one most visitors haven’t heard of, and it’s a sleeper pick. The former Naval Air Station has a 12,500-foot runway — one of the longest in Florida — plus three more at 8,000 feet, so there is no aircraft in the civilian fleet it can’t take. It’s also a licensed commercial spaceport, which makes for good conversation on the ride in.
The FBO here is Million Air Jacksonville–Cecil, which took over the longtime Jacksonville JetPort operation. If your last intel on Cecil predates the Million Air changeover, update your handler notes.
Cecil sits on Jacksonville’s west side with frontage on I-10, which makes it the closest field to Orange Park and Fleming Island, and a legitimate option for downtown. Ramp congestion is rarely a problem, and quick turns here tend to be genuinely quick.

Northeast Florida Regional (UST / KSGJ): Atlantic Aviation
Flying into St. Augustine puts you four miles from the oldest city in the country, and the single FBO here is Atlantic Aviation, which absorbed the old Galaxy Aviation operation years ago. The field handles jets comfortably on its nearly 8,000-foot main runway, and US Customs service is available for international arrivals.
This is the airport for anyone staying in St. Augustine proper, the World Golf Village corridor, or the fast-growing St. Johns and Nocatee area. It also works surprisingly well for Palm Coast, which is otherwise a long haul from any Jacksonville field.

Fernandina Beach Municipal (KFHB): Bent Wing Flight Services
KFHB is the private-aviation front door to Amelia Island. The FBO, Bent Wing Flight Services, is independent and locally owned, named for the F4U Corsair fighter — the “Bent Wing Bird” — that Navy pilots trained on at this very field during World War II. The terminal building is even shaped like one, which you’ll notice on approach.
From wheels-down you’re roughly 15 minutes from the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island, the Omni Amelia Island Resort, and downtown Fernandina Beach. The runway tops out around 5,150 feet, so light and midsize jets are fine; larger aircraft typically land at KJAX and drive over, which is an easy 35-minute run we make constantly.
One practical note: Bent Wing keeps a crew car, but like most small-field crew cars it’s first come, first served and time-limited.
